Traditional Kitchens:

Adjectives such as formal, elegant and classic come to mind when describing traditional kitchens.  Inspired by 18th and 19th century continental styles, traditional kitchens often feature rich woods such as cherry, walnut and mahogany and cabinets with inlaid panels and carved moldings.  Granite and marble are the most common work surfaces with colors or coverings restrained rather than effusive.  Antiques will often anchor well-chosen accessories that complement period elements in a more formal kitchen.
